Project BoLi: Bolstering Linguistic Resources in the Indigenous Languages of India

by Karthick Narayanan Ramakrishnan

In a country as linguistically rich as India, most underrepresented languages still lack access to basic language technologies. Project BoLi is changing that.

Led by linguist and language rights advocate Karthick Narayanan Ramakrishnan, Project BoLi is building a growing collection of audio recordings, transcriptions, translations, and grammatical data for Indian languages beyond the 22 scheduled ones.

From speech tech to educational resources, Project BoLi is paving the way for an inclusive digital future where every Indian language has a voice.

The Coalition recognizes the limitations of using English as the main language of communication. We also recognize the challenges and limitations of being an organization exclusively operated by volunteers, with limited capacity, and no funding sources. While we look into the best ways of working towards developing a strategy for multilingual engagement, all suggestions are welcome and appreciated. We thank you for your patience in the meantime.

If you know of someone who would like to join the Coalition for whom this is a barrier at the moment, please reach out to us so we can find a collaborative solution.
